Manchester United looking at Jack Butland to replace Martin Dubravka – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United are looking to secure a deal with Crystal Palace to land goalkeeper Jack Butland.

A couple of days ago, Martin Dubravka terminated his loan deal so he could return to Newcastle United

This left the club with Tom Heaton as the only backup option to David de Gea, who has been in fine form this season.

However, it looks extremely likely that the manager will be in the market for a new backup this January window.

According to The Telegraph, Man United are in talks with Butland to sign him as a backup for the second half of the season.

The former England international has been at Crystal Palace since 2020 after securing a move from Stoke City in the Championship.

Fans may recall he travelled with his country to the 2018 World Cup in Russia where he served as a backup to Jordan Pickford.

In recent seasons, he has been used as a backup goalkeeper after returning to the Premier League.

With Palace signing Sam Johnstone in the summer, Butland has fallen down the pecking order at Selhurst Park.

The goalkeeper, who is expected to leave the London club, will leave on a free transfer in the summer if he doesn’t secure a January exit.

Heaton for now is the backup goalkeeper at United after being selected as an unused substitute in the 3-0 win over Bournemouth.

Dubravka made two appearances for the Red Devils in the EFL Cup and will be determined to search for more game time heading into the final six months of the season.

United have an issue in the goalkeeper department with De Gea’s contract expiring at the end of the season.

Ten Hag will have to think about this position in the summer once more and try and find a suitable replacement.
